Genome resequencing of laboratory-evolved antibiotic resistant Escherichia coli. Escherichia coli str. K-12 substr. MDS42

The emergence of multidrug resistant bacteria is a growing concern for global public health. To suppress the emergence of antibiotic resistant mutant and to develop novel antibiotics, understanding the mechanisms responsible for antibiotic resistance is essential. In this study, we performed parallel laboratory evolution of E. coli under the selection of single antibiotics and identified mutations fixed in laboratory-evolved antibiotic resistant strains.
