Nano-Sized Effects on Spin Dynamics of La2-xSrxCuO4 Nanoparticles

Magnetic nanoparticles raised great attention in both fundamental and application aspects. The magnetic properties possess significant differences from that observed in the bulk case. In the case of high-Tc superconductor cuprates, La2-xSrxCuO4, a hysteresis loop at 300 K was observed when the particle size was reduced to 64 nm. Other non-magnetic nanoparticles reported similar behaviour but the reason for the appearance of magnetism is not well explained yet. In addition, in a high-Tc superconductor, it is believed that superconducting and magnetism are intertwined with each other which is proposed to explain the origin of the superconductivity. Here, we propose to study nano-size effects on the magnetic state and spin dynamics of La2-xSrxCuO4 nanoparticles.
