Survey Data on Factors Influencing the Willingness of Commercial Forest Households to Purchase Forest Insurance in Fujian Province

Owing to the increasing impact of global warming, the ecological function of forest resources has received increasing attention and importance, and the development of forest insurance as an important means of protecting forest resources has had a significant impact on realizing the goal of carbon neutrality. Although many studies have revealed relevant factors for participation in forest insurance, little attention has been paid to the factors influencing commercial forest insurance in China’s policy-based forest insurance. This study systematically explores the pathways influencing the willingness to purchase forest insurance for commercial forests using survey data from 402 commercial forest households in Fujian Province. The results of structural equation modeling indicate that four variables (subjective norms, policy perceptions, risk attitudes, and perceived behavioral control) have a positive and direct influence on the willingness to purchase forest insurance in commercial forests and that policy perceptions play a mediating role in risk attitudes on the willingness to purchase forest insurance in commercial forests. This suggests that in order to effectively protect China’s forest land resources, farmers should be incentivized to purchase forest insurance through targeted measures, such as policy support.
