Akodon cursor individuals involved in experimental crosses at the Animal Genetics Laboratory (LGA) of the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES)

Here, we present the individuals involved in experimental crosses at the Animal Genetics Laboratory (LGA) of the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES). When our project began, with the first individuals captured in 2011, our goal was to answer whether Akodon cursor represents one or two species in light of the Biological Species Concept. We were then influenced primarily by current knowledge about the two main mitochondrial clades recovered within the species with high statistical support, and also by the 28 karyotypes recognized at the time. Years later, we gathered a massive amount of data, including intra- and interpopulation crosses between individuals collected in three different Brazilian states, organizing the breeding pairs considering their genetic background (at the chromosomal and molecular level) and also their geographic origin. This dataset summarizes all Akodon cursor individuals involved in these crosses, considering both those captured in the wild and those born in captivity.
