The golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos japonica) is a critically endangered bird found throughout Japan. As of 2023, there are only about 200 pairs of golden eagles left in Japan, and their conservation is urgently needed. We sequenced their DNA isolated from cultured skin epidermal cells using Nanopore PromethION and Illumina Hiseq X.
