资源简介:
This collection comprises images, GIS data, reports, site records, and spreadsheets from a trial trench evaluation conducted for HS2 in 2018 at Streethay, Lichfield, Staffordshire, ahead of ecological works. Undertaken by Connect Archaeology as part of the enabling works programme, the evaluation involved excavating 35 trenches, with an additional five contingency trenches used to define an area of archaeological interest in the southern part of the site. The investigation uncovered a concentration of archaeological features, including pits, gullies, ditches, and post-holes, many containing Romano-British pottery, indicating the remains of a small plough-truncated Romano-British settlement. A large north-west to south-east ditch, likely a land boundary of the same period, was identified, along with a smaller undated ditch and an isolated post-hole to the north-west. No archaeological features were found in the northern part of the site, except for a small bioturbated pit.
