The distribution of ostracods in the Ordovician–Silurian boundary interval in the Jurmala core section, Latvia, was studied at the Department of Geology, Institute of Earth Sciences and Ecology, University of Tartu. The material was obtained from the samples of approximate weight 300-500 g by disintegration using sodium hyposulphite as a crystallizing agent. Ostracods were picked from the finely dispersed washed and dried residue (fraction 0.25−2 mm) under a binocular microscope, magnification x20...30. Specimen counting was performed in course of identification and all larger identifiable fragments, valves and complete (bivalved) specimens were counted on equal basis (as one specimen).
