This repository provides raw data corresponding to an aggradation experiment, needed to reproduce the findings of the manuscript "Investigating the celerity of propagation for small perturbations and dispersive sediment aggradation under a supercritical flow".
A channel may be aggraded by overloaded sediment. In this paper we realize an aggradation experiment and determine the celerity at which an aggradation wave migrates. We also investigate the celerity of aggradation to the celerity of small perturbations, as quantified based on mathematical formulations. The celerities of the two kinds are correlated with each other. However, the celerity of small perturbations is larger than the other one, that is less than a few percent of the water velocity.
The parameters of the performed experiment are as follows:
Water discharge: 7 l/s
Sediment feeding rate: 4.28×10-4 m3/s
Initial sediment transport capacity of the channel: 1.33×10-4 m3/s
Initial slope of the channel: 1.37%
Particle size: 3.8 mm
Particle density: 1443 kg/m3
