Gulf Coast Tar Samples, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, July-November 2011.

Following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, coastal beaches were oiled. Some remnants continued to persist and may provide invaluable clues on the fate of oil in the marine environment. To track such changes, samples were collected for concurrent and future analyses. This dataset includes a list of all samples collected and available by request from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. The information for these samples, and to make a request for samples, please visit https://www.whoi.edu/page.do?pid=73756. The dataset includes a pdf with a photograph of each sample, the date the sample was collected, the general area where the sample was collected and the latitude and longitude. Additionally an Excel spreadsheet is included that provides more detailed collection information for each sample.
