A set of natural silk and flax fibre reinforced composites have been prepared using resin transfer molding method. While maintaining a constant overall fibre volume fraction of the composites at 50 vol.%, the hybrid ratios of silk and flax were varied. From the dataset, a stiffening and strengthening effect from the introduction of flax can be seen for hybrid fibre composites compared to silk-only composites. In addition, the interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) was found to enhance with the introduction of flax in the hybrid fibre composites. It is noted that the ILSS test specimens failed in a combination of tensile and shear failure modes due to the ductility of both epoxy resin and silk fibres.
一组采用树脂传递模塑法制备的天然丝绸和亚麻纤维增强复合材料已成功制作。在维持复合材料整体纤维体积分数恒定于50体积%的前提下,丝绸与亚麻的混合比例得到了调整。从数据集中可以观察到,相较于纯丝绸复合材料,引入亚麻纤维的复合材料展现出显著的增强与刚化效应。此外,混合纤维复合材料中的层间剪切强度(ILSS)亦因亚麻的加入而得到提升。值得注意的是,由于环氧树脂和丝绸纤维的延展性,ILSS测试样本在拉伸和剪切两种失效模式中同时出现断裂。
