Pectins are primary structural constituent of plant cell walls. During smoking process, pectins undergo pyrolysis and combustion and form many pyrolysis gaseous products that influence the characters of smoke greatly. In a previous study, we isolated one fungal species, Penicillium verruculosum (Talaromyces verruculosus) TS63-9, having the highest pectinase activity of 142.43U/ml through large-scale screening. Here we have determined the genome sequence of Penicillium verruculosum(Talaromyces verruculosus) TS63-9 using Illumina platform Hiseq2500. The sequence coverage is ~100 and the assembled draft genome is ~37.63 MB. There are 11447 predicted proteins in Penicillium verruculosum TS63-9 with MAKER web server analysis , 1 sequence did not have a start codon and 120 sequences had an in-frame stop codon within the sequence, so 11326 proteins were uploaded to NCBI database in the end.
