BanFakeNews is an annotated dataset for Bengali fake news detection, developed by Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. It comprises approximately 50,000 news articles, with the aim of supporting the development of automated fake news detection systems. The dataset covers a diverse range of fake news types, including misleading or fabricated content, clickbait, satirical news, and parody news. During its curation, the research team collected data from multiple popular Bengali news portals and took measures to avoid duplicate entries. The primary application scenarios of this dataset lie in curbing the spread of fake news, particularly in political and financial domains, to safeguard the public from the harm of disinformation.
