Transcriptome analysis of mouse cecal tissue at different stages of Salmonella infection

This project presents transcriptomic data from an in vivo study investigating the role of the type III secretion system 2 (TTSS-2) in Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium (S. Tm) gut infection. Using antibiotic-pretreated mouse models infected with wild-type and TTSS-2 mutant strains, the study explores how TTSS-2–dependent virulence contributes to epithelial barrier disruption and modulates host inflammatory responses. Transcriptome profiling reveals that TTSS-2 virulence drives unique gene expression signatures in the intestinal mucosa. These data provide valuable insights into the interplay between bacterial virulence factors and host immune dynamics during enteric infection, using wild-type S. Tm, S. Tm ssaV (TTSS-2 mutant), S. Tm invG ssaV (TTSS-1/TTSS-2 double mutant), and uninfected controls in the streptomycin-pretreated mouse model.
