In this study, bacteriophage was isolated from cow shed drainage sample against Shigella dysenteriae. The TEM analysis and whole genome sequence analysis depicted that isolated phage VIT_AJPSC belonged to myoviridae family and shows close resemblance to shigella phage SfIV. The genomic size of isolated phage was 38898bp. Total number of genes were 71, out of which 28 were sequences that coded for functional proteins. The GC content was found to be 57%. The whole genome sequence was published in NCBI and the accession number for the same is OR799564.The isolated phage was found to be very specific to host and does not cause lysis to any other species.
