Part-Time Working Men and Househusbands (Partners, 1st Wave)

Attitude to decision of partner to become househusband or part-time
employee.

Topics: residential status; importance of areas of life; ideal family
size; educational goals; detailed information about school education
and employment; detailed information about occupational career since
conclusion of school; year of marriage and as appropriate year of
divorce; information on partnership; assessment of reasons of partner
to take on part-time work or become a househusband (by means of the
same scale items also presented to the men); personal stand and
influence on decision of spouse; major reasons for agreement or
rejection of partner´s decision; division of tasks in the household and
in raising children as well as child care; desire for children and
occupational plans for the future; religiousness; possession of a
telephone; agreement with a follow-up survey and retention of address
by the survey institute.

The following questions were additionally posed to women who currently
or earlier had been employed: job satisfaction (scale); time worked
each week and daily working hours.

Interviewer rating: presence of other persons during the interview and
their relationship to respondent; intervention of these persons in the
survey; assessment of the reliability of responses given and
willingness of respondent to cooperate.

Also encoded was: length of interview; date of interview;
identification of interviewer; sex of interviewer; age of interviewer.
