SearchMEP

SearchMEP is a static web application and dataset for exploring interval-level party trajectories of Members of the European Parliament elected since 1979. The beta release is generated from the official English pages of the European Parliament and contains 11,977 interval rows for 4,598 unique MEP IDs, covering parliamentary terms 1 to 10 and 28 countries. Rows represent the intersection of one MEP, one parliamentary term, one political group membership interval and one national party membership interval. National party labels and political group labels are preserved from the official English source pages; national parties are not harmonised. The dataset does not infer missing dates. This release includes the static application, the generated JSON dataset, a CSV export, documented editorial decisions, the Python build script, and methodological documentation. The dataset was generated on 2026-06-09 from the European Parliament MEP directory and individual history pages. SearchMEP is not an official European Parliament product.
