Borrelia miyamotoi CT13-2396 was isolated from an Ixodes scapularis tick collected in the fall of 2013 from Connecticut, USA. The tick was determined to be co-infected with B. burgdorferi by PCR. A method was developed to cure the co-infection by isolating B. miyamotoi CT13-2396 from nymphal offspring of the tick as B. miyamotoi is transmitted transovarially and B. burgdorferi is not.
