Interviews with Central European Software Engineers on Vibe Coding and Agentic Software Engineering

This dataset contains seven anonymised in-depth interviews with Central European software professionals, including lead developers, software architects, a site manager, a frontend developer, and a CIO. The interviews were conducted between 10 and 26 July 2026. All interviews were organised around the central question: “What changes has AI brought about in your work at your company?” They were based on informal, friendly conversations, and the interviewees were given the opportunity to review and edit the recorded text before publication. The interviewees had between approximately 10 and more than 30 years of professional experience. The collection contains four longer interviews, identified as I1–I4, and three shorter interviews, identified as S1–S3. These identifiers should be retained when the interviews are cited or analysed. The interviews discuss AI-assisted programming, coding agents, code generation, code review, software testing, software architecture, and agent-based workflows. They also address productivity changes, AI-service costs and token limits, legacy-system modernisation, professional responsibility, changing job roles, junior-developer employment, and the future of software engineering. The interviews are presented in the order in which they were recorded; this ordering does not imply any ranking or relative importance. Each interview is divided into numbered paragraphs, generally organised around a single idea. The interviews are presented in the first person singular. The published collection is available in English, although not every interview was originally conducted in English. All interviews are anonymous, and several interviewees specifically requested anonymity. The collection was prepared as part of ongoing research on Vibe Coding and Agentic Software Engineering. It is now openly available. Researchers are welcome to use and analyse it but are requested to cite the dataset and its Zenodo DOI in any resulting publication or research output. It is not required to retain the paragraph numbering or use verbatim quotations of the paragraphs. The same interview collection is provided in TXT, DOCX, RTF, ODT, and PDF formats.
