资源简介:
The study aimed to elucidate the effects of whole gut transit time (WGTT) on the composition of the faecal microbiome and bile acid metabolism. Given the established links between alterations in WGTT and various gastrointestinal disorders, understanding these dynamics is crucial for unraveling the underlying mechanisms of gut health. By manipulating WGTT through the administration of loperamide and senna in healthy volunteers, the research sought to observe the resulting changes in microbiome diversity and bile acid profiles. The findings demonstrate that variations in WGTT significantly influence both the microbial community and bile acid metabolism, suggesting that WGTT is a key factor in maintaining gastrointestinal homeostasis. This study provides important insights into how transit time alterations can potentially contribute to gastrointestinal disorders, emphasizing the need for further exploration in clinical settings.
