Sex crimes cases in Flanders 2009-2022

The Flemish Region of Belgium saw a growing number of sex crimes in the last decade. In 2009, over 5,400 cases were reported in the region, whereas, in 2022, there were more than 7,900 registered cases.However, these crimes did not rise steadily over this period. For instance, the number of cases peaked in 2021, with just under 9,000 cases reported. The eventuality of a certain number of cases not being reported remains, as criminality numbers rely only on reported cases. Sex crimes cover a variety of offenses such as rape, voyeurism, exhibitionism, childhood pornography, sexual exploitation, and more.
