Gouldian finch genome sequencing

The Gouldian finch (Erythrura gouldiae) is a bird species of conservation concern in Australia. Wild populations exhibit strong plumage polymorphisms, specifically in the color of their face. Using a range of genetic methods, we have identified a small region of the Gouldian finch genome that is likely responsible for a red-black polymorphism. These genome data are of low-coverage whole-genome re-sequencing, and were taken from birds in a domesticated population in New York that also exhibit the same plumage polymorphism.
