In this study, we developed a wheat germplasm conferring a high level of resistance to 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD)-inhibiting herbicides through transformation of the rice HPPD INHIBITOR SENSITIVE 1 (OsHIS1) gene. And through multi-omics analysis, we explored the mechanism of HPPD-inhibitor herbicide toxicity and OsHIS1 detoxification in wheat.
