Rifle Range Nature Refuge Protection and Community Education Project

This project will assist preservation of the 80 ha Rifle Range Nature Refuge in Emerald and increase the community's awareness, use, enjoyment and ownership of it. Information and interpretive signs will be established at entrances and on existing tracks and will communicate the rules of entry and the Refuge's vegetation, wildlife and Indigenous cultural values. Fencing the full perimeter will deter and stop unauthorised access and prohibited activities occurring. These will be supported by a community awareness raising program and Clean Up Australia Day communications to enhance and preserve the remnant bushland, wildlife and endangered regional ecosystem.
