U.S. Campaign Contributions Industry and Geography Panel, 1990–2022

This dataset provides a longitudinal panel of U.S. campaign contributions covering 17 even-year election cycles from 1990 to 2022. The release contains two Parquet files. The first, contributions.parquet, is a contribution-level panel organized by donor industry, recipient, and cycle and contains approximately 46.3 million records totaling about $58.5 billion. The second, indiv_geography_panel.parquet, is an individual-level geographic panel organized by donor county, industry, recipient, and cycle and contains approximately 8.9 million records, with approximately 97% of records receiving a county FIPS assignment. The data were constructed from bulk records distributed by OpenSecrets through an eight-stage pipeline covering ingestion, integrity checks, transaction aggregation, entity resolution, NAICS assignment, industry mapping, final database construction, and geographic enrichment. The accompanying public repository contains the code, documentation, data dictionary, and methodological notes required to audit or reproduce the released datasets.
