Normalised Hourly Wind (WASA) and Solar PV (PVGIS) generation profiles for the Western Cape supply area of South Africa
收藏资源简介:
Normalised hourly wind and solar PV generation profiles for the Western Cape supply area of South Africa. Used as resource inputs for spatial clustering, capacity allocation, and Pareto-optimal transition pathway optimisation for renewable energy integration, as described in the associated publication in Applied Energy. Wind profiles (WASA/SAM) Source: Wind Atlas for South Africa (WASA) reanalysis dataset Spatial resolution: 3.3 km × 3.3 km Converted to power using the System Advisor Model (SAM, NREL) Turbine: Siemens SWT-2.3 MW-108 at 100 m hub height Normalised to per-unit values Filenames: sam_power_wc_ipps_3x3_<year>.npz Solar PV profiles (PVGIS) Source: PVGIS SARAH2 database for reanalysis data Spatial resolution: 3.3 km × 3.3 km Configuration: north–south single-axis tracking, 14% system losses Normalised to per-unit values Filenames: pvgis_<year>_single_axis_ipps_wc.npz Spatial index A CSV file maps each grid point to its latitude, longitude, and ID IDs correspond to the array indices in the .npz files Resource datasets coverage of only Western Cape grid points and locations of existing Independent Power Providers (IPPs) These IDs are a subset of the full South Africa 3×3 km grid (SA_3x3_grid) Validation Both datasets were validated against nationally aggregated Eskom-measured generation for 2019 Temporal coverage Years: 2016, 2017, and 2019 Hourly resolution
