gene annotation of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii strain CC-4532

The unicellular green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii is a premier model system in plant and cell biology. It has been instrumental to discoveries in photosynthesis, chloroplast biology, and cilia structure and function. In 2007, a genome assembly for the species was published based on strain CC-503. Recently, we have identified a number of chromosomal rearrangements unique to this strain that impair its usefulness as a reference for the species. In the current work, an improved genome assembly and annotations are presented based strain CC-4532. This accession contains RNA-Seq reads that were prepared from strain CC-4532 to guide the annotation of this assembly.
