Anthonomus eugenii is one of the most damaging pests in the pepper crop in Central America, Mexico, and the United States of America. The management strategies include insecticides, integrated management, and modification behavior compounds, such as male pheromones and flower volatiles. However, there is no information on the molecular mechanism involved in the communication system. So, we performed a weevil heads transcriptome analysis to find protein families involved in chemical communication. We report twenty-two transcripts belonging to families related to perireceptor events, seventeen correspond to Odorant-binding proteins (OBP), and five to Chemosensory proteins (CSP), most of which were also corroborated by PCR and sanger sequencing in weevil head and in other tissues.
