Developing of draft genome of bush dog.. Speothos venaticus

The project 'Whole genome sequencing of bush dog (Speothos venaticus)' aims to develop "reference genomes". The current population of bush dog is estimated at 110,000 individuals in South America, and this species is classified as Near threatened species by IUCN. As part of ex situ conservation, bush dog are kept in zoos around the world. Genetic management of captive populations is important, therefore various studies have been performed, but no genome-wide analysis has been performed. We will develop the draft genome, and investigate genetic polymorphisms in the species. The goal of this project is preparation of genetic information to conserve bush dog.
