Chain saw

Provided is a chain saw configured so that nuts for affixing a side cover and a guide bar will not become dislodged from the body housing side. A chain saw 1 provided with a side cover 40， wherein retention rings for retaining nuts 33， 34 so that the nuts 33， 34 will not become dislodged in the axial direction of bolts 31， 32 are provided near ends of the shafts of the bolts 31， 32 extending perpendicularly to a side surface of a body housing 3. The side cover 40 is provided with through-holes 42， 43 through which the nuts 33， 34 can pass. The through-holes 42， 43 are composed of round holes formed on the front side and larger than the nuts 33， 34， and of oval cutouts extending rearwards from the round holes. The nuts 33， 34 are fastened at the cutout sections. The side cover 40 is removed by loosening the nuts 33， 34 and moving the side cover 40 rearwards and then sidewards.
