Precipitation in Shallow Convection Over the Southern Ocean

My research focuses on understanding the role of shallow clouds, commonly observed over the Southern Ocean, in our climate system. By studying how these low-level clouds and their precipitation interact with aerosols, this work aims to improve climate models, particularly in simulating precipitation over the Southern Hemisphere. I found that these clouds and their rain help scrub the atmosphere clean, creating some of the cleanest air on Earth. Our findings also highlight how these clouds can provide valuable insights to address global challenges in climate prediction and simulation.
