To identify afatinib-AE pairs that are reported more frequently than expected, we used multiple algorithms to measure disproportionately reported patients. All AEs are calculated by four algorithms—ROR, PRR, BCPNN, and EBGM—and significant ADRs are detected. Before calculating the ROR and PRR, values a, b, c, and d need to be obtained (where a represents the number of individuals experiencing adverse events of interest after afatinib exposure, b represents the number of individuals experiencing nontargeted adverse events after nonafatinib exposure, c represents the number of individuals experiencing adverse events of interest after afatinib exposure, and d represents the number of individuals experiencing nontargeted adverse events after nonafatinib exposure).
