In Vivo Transformation of NESp During Murine Bacteremia

The overall goal of this study was to ascertain regions of homologous recombination occurring in nonencapsulated pneumococcal strains when exposed to DNA from a highly virulent encapsulated pneumococcal strain during in vivo bacteremia. This study will help identify recombination hotspots that can result in novel pathogens produced by the selective pressure of vaccines.
