The acid-catalyzed reaction of [1,1‘-Fc{Co2(CO)6(μ:η2-C⋮CCMe2OH)}2] (Fc = Fe(η5-C5H4)2) with a variety of dinucleophiles led to the formation in excellent yields of a novel range of ferrocenophanes containing a variety of donor atoms. The crystal structures of four of these new compounds are reported as well as the results of electrochemical studies of the new complexes.
