The genome of the Pacific beetle-mimic cockroach (Diploptera punctata, Blaberidae), the only truly viviparous cockroach, has been sequenced using a combination of both long- and short-read sequencing technologies. Together with 17 other insect genomes, comprising 3 independent origins of viviparity, genomic comparative analyses reveal pathways important for the adaptation to viviparity in insects.
