There is a misstatement in the abstract of Meng et al. (2019). There were not compound events involving two ICMEs causing superstorms with Dst ≤ -250 nT detected in the study. There were however two compound events involving magnetic clouds followed by sheath fields causing superstorms. We show the event on April 11-13, 1981 storm main phase as an example.
