Replica Dickson Projectile Point (Catalog # 2002:226.14), a part of the Michigan State University Museum's Archaeology Teaching Collection. This tool, created by Tim Dillard, is made out of heat-treated Burlington chert and was shaped through flintknapping. Dickson points date to the Early Woodland Period in the Eastern Woodlands of North America and are found in the midwestern U.S, especially in Illinois and surrounding states. These points would have functioned as spear tips or as multi-purpose cutting tools.
