This data set contains scanning electron microscopy images of sections of a foliage leaf of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (K) duplicate of the <i>Chusquea</i> sect. <i>Serpentes </i>specimen <i>S. G. Beck & R. Foster</i> <i>18535 </i>from La Paz, Bolivia. These images were used to describe the foliage leaf micromorphology of a new species of <i>Chusquea</i> to which the specimen <i>S. G. Beck & R. Foster</i> <i>18535</i> belongs and to compare the foliar micromorphology of this species to that of other previously described <i>C. </i>sect. <i>Serpentes</i>.
