Exploring Connections between Magnetism and X-ray Emission in Massive Stars

Evidence is mounting that some OB stars have magnetic fields. Although modest interms of dominating wind flow, they are strong enough to influence the flow. Ourproposal seeks to expand our understanding of shock physics in magnetizedlinedriven winds by enlarging the sample of magnetic stars that have beenstudied at Xray energies. Our study will obtain a total of 85 ksec of EPICspectra for 5 OB stars with detected fields around 100 Gauss to constrain therange of hot plasma temperatures and differential emission measures. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
