资源简介:
BACKGROUND: This project uses the innovative audiokinetic system initially designed for Liquid Architecture and the NGV. Whilst motion simulators are used for rides and films across the globe, we are yet to find any other artists using them to extend the experience of music. For this research project, three distinct styles of music were chosen in order to explore different logics bethind particular multisensory relationships. One song was musical, one was German spoken word and one was ambient industrial/environmental. CONTRIBUTION: The clear stylistic choices made rendered the different nature of each of the audiokinetic logics clear and identifiable. "Merle" was an obvious fusion of industrial sound and kinetic rendering of the environmental gestures. "Prologue" was the strangest experience as the tight audiokinetic map of the speech pushed the listener into feeling like the machine was somehow implicated in the talking. "Feurio" had the clearest references to dance and hence tended to elicit the most glee. (Our expecttion is that part of that glee is drawn from the stupidity of agency-free movement to music. But this idea will provide the basis for future research.) SIGNIFICANCE: This commission was to provide a local response to the legacy of a band at the heart of the "Geniale Dilletanten" (Berlin subculture of the 80's) exhibition. It focussed on a viscerally embodied experience of Einsturzende Neubauten's music (against the historical and cultural documentation at the heart of the rest of the exhibition). RMIT Gallery is one of the approved venues for ERA eligible work. The Goethe Institute have requested that the Klangbewegung Maschine now tours with the rest of the German exhibition to Sydney. (Video documentation is available on request).
