Transcriptome Profiling of Arginine-fed Chlamydomonas Culture

This transcriptome is to compare the genes regulated by N depletion and arginine feeding, in contrast to N-replete cultures. This study identified N starvation-specific genes as commonly regulated by both N depletion and arginine feeding. We propose that the N starvation signal activates N scavenging genes while repressing photosynthesis-related genes in arginine-fed cultures. Arginine-fed cultures offer a stress-free cell model that accurately represents N starvation signaling and responses.
