Dataset for experiments investigating the effects of inhibition caused by addition of rotary drum thickner and humic and tannic acids on accurate quantification of viral RNA during wastewater-based surveillance

This dataset is for two sets of experiments investigating the effects of inhibition on accurate quantification of viral RNA during wastewater-based surveillance. The first series of experiments looks at the effects of the use of rotary drum thickener (RDT) at the Galt WWTP and the second series of experiments looks at the effects of the addition of humic and tannic acids to wastewater influent. It includes estimates of gene copy concentrations in influent wastewater for the viral targets of SARS-CoV-2, Pepper mild mottle virus and crAssphage. Concentration estimates were made using RT-qPCR and RT-dPCR. Experiments were conducted in 2021-2022 with data processing completed by 2024.
