NRS-10963 | Poster entitled "The Police Regulation Act 1862"

The function of the Community Relations Bureau was to promote the highest level of community co-operation and support in achieving the objectives of the New South Wales Police Force. This poster, of which there are two copies, was produced by the Promotions and Publications Section of the Bureau. It was designed and printed in order to draw attention to the importance of the Police Regulation Act, 1862 - hence the title of the poster. The principles upon which the Act was based are "Unity of Action, Centralization of Authority, and Uniformity of System". The essential feature of the poster is the (reproduced) photograph of a policeman in a posed stance, which is thought to be contemporaneous with the passing of the Act.
