Objectives are to understand the sedimentary and structural evolution of the forearc basin west of Sumatra;determine the landward extent of the accretionary complex and the seaward edge of Sumatran continental cruist; to delineate and sample the sedimentary facies on the lower trench slope; to clarify the shallow structure of slope sediments and accreted material on the lower trench slope work requires two-ship expanding spread and constant offset seismic refraction profiles, single-ship multichannel seismic reflection work, piston coring and single reflection work.
