Estimating the Burden of Chronic Respiratory Diseases (CRD) in Bangladesh Using the 4 Country Chronic Respiratory Disease [4CCORD] Study Tools

Despite its leading contribution in mortality and related multi-morbidity, Chronic respiratory diseases (CRD), particularly asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are largely underreported in resource-poor settings. The unavailability of diagnostic facilities and weak primary health infrastructure contributes to poor awareness and subsequent care-seeking behaviour of these diseases. This scarcity of representative data on understanding the burden of these disease is profound at the community level on policy development and resource allocation. The dataset contains the collected data, lung function assessment conducted on the enrolled participants on the full-fledge surveillance conducted in the community level for the estimation of chronic respiratory disease in Bangladesh using the methodologies and tools of the pilot 4-country chronic respiratory disease (4CCORD) Study. Findings from this surveillance will contribute in garnering the attention of policy makers in primary prevention and better management of these disease addressing the risk factors at the community level.
