Reproducibility Files for the Bibliometric Analysis of Sustainable Finance Research Overview This repository contains the search strategy, custom VOSviewer thesaurus, and final network files developed for the study “From ESG Principles to Financial System Coordination: A Bibliometric Analysis of Sustainable Finance Research.” The materials support the reproducibility of the keyword co-occurrence analysis and document the decisions used to normalize and exclude terms. Repository contents File Description Scopus_search_queries.txt Pilot, final, and focused supplementary Scopus queries, together with the retrieval date and the number of documents returned by each query. VOSviewer_thesaurus.txt Custom tab-separated thesaurus used for keyword normalization and exclusion. VOSviewer_map_final.txt Final VOSviewer map file containing keyword labels, coordinates, cluster assignments, link counts, total link strength, and occurrences. VOSviewer_network_final.txt Final VOSviewer network file containing weighted keyword co-occurrence links. README.md Documentation of the corpus formation, search queries, VOSviewer settings, thesaurus structure, preprocessing rules, and repository contents. Data collection and corpus Bibliographic database: Scopus Data retrieval date: 16 July 2026 Analytical period: 2000–2025 Pilot-query results: 11,658 documents Final bibliographic corpus: 11,629 documents Focused supplementary query results: 1,395 documents Included document types: Articles and reviews Language: English The complete pilot, final, and focused supplementary search expressions are provided in `Scopus_search_queries.txt`. The focused supplementary query was used to identify potentially relevant publications for the qualitative content analysis and did not alter the main bibliographic corpus used for keyword co-occurrence mapping. VOSviewer analysis settings Software: VOSviewer 1.6.18 Type of analysis: Co-occurrence Unit of analysis: All keywords (author keywords and index keywords) Counting method: Full counting Minimum number of occurrences: 25 Eligible keyword items before thesaurus processing: 618 Keyword items retained in the final network: 383 Clustering resolution: 1.0 Minimum cluster size: 5 Final number of clusters: 4 Final number of weighted links: 29,348 Thesaurus structure The thesaurus is a tab-separated text file with two columns: label - the original keyword; replace by - the normalized form. A blank value in the "replace by" column instructs VOSviewer to exclude the corresponding term from the thematic map. Thesaurus summary Total rules: 238 Replacement/normalization rules: 84 Exclusion rules: 154 The thesaurus was developed through several iterative rounds of keyword review, normalization, and conservative exclusion. Preprocessing principles Lexical normalization. Singular/plural forms, spelling variants, punctuation variants, and hyphenated/non-hyphenated forms were consolidated where they represented the same concept. Selective abbreviation normalization. Abbreviations and their full forms were merged where their equivalence was unambiguous. Removal of generic indexing terms. Broad database-generated or non-substantive descriptors were excluded when they did not represent an interpretable research theme. Removal of methodological noise. Generic research methods, statistical procedures, model names, and study-design terms were excluded from the thematic map. Removal of biomedical indexing noise. Biomedical and population-indexing terms unrelated to sustainable finance were excluded. Removal of named geographical labels. Individual country names, named cities, and broad geographical regions were excluded from the thematic keyword map. Generic and substantively meaningful spatial concepts such as `city`, `urban area`, and `urbanization` were retained. Geographical labels remained available in the original bibliographic records for separate geographical or co-authorship analyses. Retention of institutional entities and policy frameworks. Substantively relevant entities and frameworks, including the European Union, OECD, ASEAN, the United Nations, UNFCCC, EU taxonomy, Paris Agreement, and Kyoto Protocol, were retained where present. Retention of substantive concepts. Financial, environmental, energy, technological, social, governance, regulatory, and policy concepts were preserved unless they were clearly generic or duplicative.
