Knowing what the innovative cloud providers have deployed recently can help analysts planning and forecasting. For example, if building data tools, knowing what types of models and what sizes (in virtual cores) have been recently added would help with planning. For companies tracking what is trending or which supplier has been deployed the most in the past quarter can published analyses about the market.

Cloud service providers ("CSP") devote substantial resources to identifying the proper models and sizes to provide. AWS won't deploy a 64-core version if their 48-core is not getting used enough. So, objective pricing data can help companies with their own market intelligence needs by leveraging the work the CSPs have already done.

Liftr Insights has been obtaining data on prices and many other factors for over 5 years. During that timeframe, Liftr has not changed its methodology, though it does stay abreast of the regular changes that make obtaining consistent data challenging.
