The supersite aerial photography is subsets of imagery collected as part of the National Photography and Imagery Programme by the national mapping agency, National Geo-Spatial Information (NGI) (previously known as Chief Directorate: Surveys and Mapping). NGI is a component of the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform.
Imagery acquired before 2008 was taken at various heights and resolutions using a range of cameras. The pre-2008 imagery are available as non-georeferenced imagery directly from NGI (the job numbers, row numbers and photo numbers are provided below). The imagery collected after 2008 were captured digitally using an Intergraph DMC camera at 12-bits with a ground spacing distance (i.e. resolution) of 0.5m and were provided in a georeferenced format. The southern supersite imagery were collected in 2010, the northern granite supersites in 2008 and the northern basalt supersite in 2008/2009.
