The soil samples were taken from different seasons (autumn, winter, and spring) in the intertidal zone of Daliao River estuary. The physicochemical properties were measured, and the potential nitrification rates (PNRs) of the heterotrophic bacteria from different soil samples were assessed. The diversity and structure of soil bacterial communities were determined by high-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA gene, and the functional profiles were predicted by Phylogenetic Investigation of Communities by Reconstruction of Unobserved States (PICRUSt).
