Sequencing of a revertant of the VISA strain Staphylococcus aureus VC40. Staphylococcus aureus VC40R

Staphylococcus aureus VC40R is a revertant that is derived from the VISA (vancomycin intermediate S. aureus) strain S. aureus VC40 that was selected on vancomycin. S. aureus VC40R has a lower vancomycin minimum inhibitory concentration than S. aureus VC40. S. aureus VC40 harbors two exchanges in VraS (D242G and L114S). The sequencing showed that S. aureus VC40R contains an additional exchange in VraR(M54T). The second sequenced strain is S. aureus NCTC8325 VraS(VC40) that carries the VraS mutations of S. aureus VC40 after allelic exchange.
