These 13 microsatellite DNA locus genotypes were used to assess genetic diversity within and among Walleye (Sander vitreus) populations across Minnesota. Genotypes were produced from 52 sample collections, including temporal replicates for some populations, with N = 12-93. These data resolved genetic structure consistent with major watersheds and persistence of native local ancestry across southern Minnesota, supporting existing northern Genetic Management Units (GMUs) and the establishment of a new unit in the south. These data can be used or converted for use with many standard genetic analysis software programs, but would require standardization to compare across laboratories.
